There is shock and sadness in Gortahork and beyond following the sad passing of Seán McElwee, General Manager of the Óstán Loch Altan.

A tribute from Mr McElwee’s colleagues described him as a much-loved friend who touched the lives of so many.

“Seán was an extraordinary soul whose genuine compassion touched the hearts of everyone he met. His infectious smile and his positive outlook were a source of inspiration for us all. As we mourn his loss, let us remember the beautiful memories we shared with Seán, his presence in Óstán Loch Altan will be missed so very dearly,” the tribute said.

“Seán, you were one of life’s true gentlemen.”

Condolences have been expressed to Seán’s partner Máire, his sons, Niall, Shane, Naoise and Muiris, and all his extended family during this difficult time.

A book of condolences has been opened in Óstán Loch Altan.
