Termon proved too strong for Naomh Conaill in this Donegal Ladies Division One League Final at MacCumhaill Park.

Termon…3-12   Naomh Conaill…1-5

After Naomh Conaill had missed a couple of early chances two points from Ciara McGarvey frees got Termon up and running.

By Charlie Collins at MacCumhaill Park

Niamh McGeehin’s fine point from play in the 13th minute opened Naomh Conaill’s account but Roisin Friel and Niamh Bonner quickly replied with two points from play to put Termon 0-04 to 0-01 ahead.

After a scoreless period and several wides from both teams Ciara McGarvey converted her third free to make it a four point game.

But then a big moment in the 25th minute as Danielle McDevitt put Amy Boyle Carr through on goal but she was denied the goal that would have brought Naomh Conaill right back into the game by a brillant save by the advancing Roisin McCafferty , a turning point in the game perhaps.

At half-time Termon led by 0-07 to 0-01.

Ciara opened the second-half scoring with her sixth point and then combined with Sophie Curran to set up Jodie McFadden who hammered the ball to the net to make it 1-08 to 0-01 and game pretty much over.

The teams exchanged points , Ciara McGarvey added two to bring her total to eight , Danielle McDevitt added two and Aoife McDonnell another for Naomh Conaill to leave it 1-10 to 0-04 points.

But goals by Roisin Friel and Jodie McFadden extended Termon’s lead further , McFadden and Nicole McLaughlin added points while Danielle McDevitt brought her total to 1-03 with a goal and a point.

Another League title and Termon still look like the kingpins of ladies football in Donegal.
