Letterkenny Gardaí caught a driver on the road today without insurance, tax, or NCT for five years.
The car was seized during a roadside checkpoint this morning, with discs dating back to 2018.
The driver has been charged to appear in court.
Gardaí are undertaking a Road Safety ‘Day of Action’ to encourage road users to stay safe on the roads this Bank Holiday Weekend.
Gardaí are clamping down on the four life-saver offences – drink/drug driving, speeding, non-wearing of seat belts, and holding a mobile phone while driving.
The overall objective is to reduce the number of fatal and serious injury collisions and to keep people safe as they take to the roads this weekend.
A plea from Gardaí this morning called on all road users to think about the consequences of dangerous activity on the roads.
They said: “We dread going to the scene of a serious or a fatal road traffic collision. We really dread having to call to a home to break the worst imaginable news to a family and we do know as we drive up the laneway of a home that what we are about to say will bring their whole world crashing down around them. It is soul destroying and in many cases it is avoidable.
“Please do not ever make the decision to drive under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Slow down. Wear your seatbelt. The consequences of drink/drug driving and/or speed can be utterly devastating. The consequences are also irreversible.”
