International: Chatshow legend Michael Parkinson dies aged 88

BBC chatshow host Michael Parkinson has died peacefully at home at the age of 88, his family has confirmed.

He interviewed some of the biggest names in showbusiness and sport throughout his illustrious career, including Ingrid Bergmann and Muhammad Ali..

“After a brief illness, Sir Michael Parkinson passed away peacefully at home last night in the company of his family. The family request that they are given privacy and time to grieve,” a statement from his family read.
