Glenswilly 2-15 v 0-10 Ardara
Glenswilly started their championship campaign with excellent performance as they hosted Ardara this afternoon.
Despite playing against the breeze in the opening half Glenswilly got off to a flying start, scoring the opening three points, two Micheal Murphy frees and Gary McFadden from play. Naill McCrossan opened Ardara’s account in the 12th minute but points from Shaun Wogan and Oisín Crawford had Glenswilly 0-05 to 0-01-ahead in the 15th minute.
Ardara hit back with three in a row, two from Kevin Whyte and another from McCrossan, 0-05 to 0-04.
Glenswilly replied with a super goal, a move set up the chance for Kealan Dunleavy and when his shot was blocked Shaun Wogan, who had an excellent game, hammered in the rebound.
Daithi Gildea and Dunleavy added Glenswilly points while McCrossan converted aa Ardara free to leave it 1-07 to 0-05 at half-time.
Michael Murphy added two quick points, C J Molloy and Charlie Bennett replied but Glenswilly shot four in a row, Wogan, Dunleavy, Murphy and Gary McFadden all on target and suddenly it was 1-13 to 0-07 and the home team in control.
And that’s the way it stayed, Niall McCrossan, Karl Joseph Molloy and John Ross Molloy added Ardara points but two more Gary McFadden points and a cracker of a goal from sub Mark Bonner rounded off an excellent Glenswilly performance on a scoreline of 2-15 to 0-10, impressive stuff from the home team in this championship opener.
