Mulroy Coast Guard volunteers have once again called on the public to stop blocking lifeboat access to piers.
Illegal parking in yellow boxes at piers can have fatal consequences during sea rescues when every second counts.
However, a vehicle was found abandoned on the slipway at Downings Pier this weekend, prompting the Coast Guard to again remind the public to park responsibly.
A spokesperson said: “When you’re visiting one of the amazing amenities ensure you park in a sensible manner. Every second counts in an emergency.
“The sign says ‘Do not park or obstruct yellow boxes’.
“If you see someone in difficulty in or near the water, dial 112 or 999 and ask for the Coast Guard.”
Mulroy Coast Guard produced a video in summer 2021 to highlight the dangers of blocking pier access.
“The difference between life and death can be seconds,” they said.
