More heartbreak has struck the Tipperary community after a three-year-old boy and his grandparents were fatally injured in a road tragedy last night.
Gardaí have confirmed three fatalities as a result of the collision near Cashel.
An adult male and adult female rear seat passengers, both aged in their 40s, were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The body of the infant boy, also fatally injured, was taken to Tipperary University Hospital, Clonmel.
A man driving the car and a woman, who was a front seat passenger, were taken to TUH, where their condition is described as serious.
The tragic crash comes just a week after four young people were killed in a car crash in Clonmel, also in Co Tipperary.
Twenty-four-year-old Luke McSweeney, his 18-year-old sister Grace McSweeney and Zoey Coffey and Nicole Murphy, both also 18, were killed on Friday evening, hours after the teenagers received their Leaving Certificate exam results.
Local Independent TD Mattie McGrath said: “More heartbreak within our community as a number of people have been killed in a crash near Windmill, Cashel.
“My thoughts and prayers are with all those involved, their families and the emergency services dealing with another tragic road collision.
“There are just no words, what an unbelievably difficult week this has been for the people of Tipperary. Such heartbreaking news when the county is still grieving following Friday night’s tragic accident which claimed four young lives.
“May those who have lost their lives Rest in eternal peace.”
