The tragic case of missing Mary Boyle is to feature on a new series of RTE’s highly-acclaimed Scannal programme.

The 6-year-old twin from the Rosses in West Donegal went missing in 1977 aged just seven years.

She was last seen walking through fields after leaving her uncle’s home at Cashelard outside Ballyshannon on 18 March 1977.

Despite searches, appeals and digs for missing Mary, no trace has ever been found of the little girl in a case which has baffled investigators.

The show is understood to be an overall recap of the case of missing Mary and includes interviews as well as footage at the time of Mary’s disappearance.

The Scannal series looks back on key moments and event in recent Irish history.

The Mary Boyle episode oin RTE television will feature in the coming weeks but no schedule date has yet been listed.
