Aodh Máirtín Ó Fearraigh has been appointed Regional Manager with RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta in Donegal.

Aodh Máirtin is from Seascan Beag in Gaoth Dobhair, and has been working as part of the RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta team in Doirí Beaga since 2001.

A talented journalist, he has extensive experience and skill in current affairs, with a particular interest in politics and elections.  He is also very involved in the GAA, and has held managerial roles in the organisation’s administration at county and national level for the last twenty years.

Aodh Máirtín Ó Fearraigh will begin his new role on Monday 11 September. Aodh Máirtín succeeds Damien Ó Dónaill, who takes up a role as Series Producer for the Bladhaire programme.

Speaking of his appointment, Aodh Máirtín said that he was looking forward to taking up the new role.

“I’m very much looking forward to this new challenge.  I’ve been working as a member of the Doirí Beaga team here for many years, and we’ve a talented, capable and committed staff here who work hard to provide an excellent service to our listeners.  RTÉ RnaG has seen many changes since 1972, and we have listeners now far outside the traditional Gaeltacht areas. I hope to be able to continue to build on the work that has been done up until now, keeping the listener at the heart of it all.  I’d like to thank Damien Ó Dónaill for his valuable service over the last two years, in particular throughout the tough Covid years.”

Gearóid Mac Donncha, Ceannaire of RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta, welcomed the appointment and said: “I’d like to congratulate Aodh Máirtín Ó Fearraigh on his appointment.  He has proven his talent for journalism throughout his many years in the newsroom in Doirí Beaga, and has expertise current affairs and sport.  His skillset will be a great addition to the management committee of the service, and I’d like to wish him all the very best in his new role.”
