Donegal Senator Niall Blaney is to contest the next European Parliament elections.
The Fianna Fail politician has confirmed he plans to run as one of Fianna Fáil’s candidates for the Midlands-North West region.
Senator Blaney will have to stand at convention to see if he is nominated by his party to stand.
His party colleague, Mayo-based Senator Lisa Chambers, also said this week that she plans to contest the European elections.
