GAA: Glenswilly reach last eight of Senior Championship with impressive win over Glenfin

Glenswilly cruised past Glenfin at O’Donnell Park this afternoon to reach the last eight of the Senior Championship.

Glenswilly 1-16 Glenfin 0-10

Glenswilly dominated the early stages and led by 1-04 to 0-00 after 18 minutes.

Points from by Jack Gallagher, Daithi Gildea and Micheal Murphy got them off to a fast start and then in the 16th minute when Shane McDevitt’s attempt for a point dropped shot the alert Donal Gallagher outjumped two Glenfin players to fist the ball to the net.

When Caoimhin Marley scored from a mark it was all Glenswilly.

Daniel Marley’s free finally got Glenfin on the scoreboard from a free in the 23rd minute but Mark McAteer replied immediately for Glenswilly , 1-05 to 0-01.

Luke McGlynn converted another Glenfin free but Micheal Murphy scored a long range free and the converted a mark to leave the half-time score, 1-07 to 0-02 points to Glenswilly.

Glenfin started the second-half as Glenswilly had the first with three points in a row, Daniel Marley with two and their first from play by Luke McGlynn to leave five in it.

However, Glenswilly responded with another three in a row , Gary McFadden’s free followed by two from play by Murphy and Caoimhin Marley to leave eight points in it again.

Daniel Marley converted a free but Keelan Dunleavy and Murphy replied.

Glenfin did created several goal chances but good last-ditch and blocking defending denied them.

Luke McGlynn added two from frees and Shaun Ward another but Glenswilly replied with points from the excellent Caolan Kelly, Donal Gallagher ,Gary McFadden and Caoimhin Marley.

Ross Marley got the last score of the game to leave the final score 1-16 to 0-10 points in favour of Glenswilly and a place in the last eight of the Senior Championship. Glenswilly
