Young Donegal singer Jessica McKean is to represent Ireland in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2023.

The ten-year-old sang her heart out to get to the final of the show on TG4 and this evening was voted the winner just a short time ago.

She will now represent Ireland on the international stage.

Jessica was supported all the way by her parents Sarah and Wesley and sister, Louisa (9) and her six-year-old brother Archie.

A huge party was held in Maggie’s Tavern in St Johnston for Jessica and her family as the whole community got behind the young Donegal singer.

Jessica, from Carrickmore in St Johnston competed against thousands of hopefuls in her bid to represent Ireland in the Junior Eurovision Final which will take place on 26th November in Nice.

Jessica said: “This has been the most wonderful experience of my life. I’ve met some fantastic people and gained experience that some people can only dream of. I’ve worked so hard for this, so I’m going to sing my heart out on the final for Donegal and for Ireland.“

The show’s winner will have a song specially written to suit them, which they will then perform in Nice.

Jessica is the youngest-ever Irish finalist to take part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest selection competition.
