Impressive Termon were too strong for Naomh Columba in this Intermediate B Championship final at O Donnell Park.

They led by six points at halftime, most of them (0-05),coming from the boot of Paul Mallon. Naomh Columba improved in the second-half but Termon always looked in control and ran out comfortable winners to take the B title.

Paul Mallon’s free gave Termon a early lead and in the fifth minute they had a great chance of a goal when Jamie Gallagher’s shot dropped shot, Gary McGettigan fielded it , then dropped it but got his shot away which hit the post and then Luke McGarvey’s follow-up was blocked on the line and the chance was gone.

Termon continued to dominate and Steve McDaid from play and another Paul Mallon free had them three points after fifteen minutes. As Naomh Columba really struggled to make any impression going forward Termon were able to retain possession for long periods of time without creating to many chances. Paul Mallon converted another free, Mark Gallagher added a fifth Termon point and in the last few minutes of the half Mallon added two more ,including his first from play to seven point lead. Naomh Columba finally opened their account just before halftime with a Aaron Byrne point.

At halftime Termon led by 0-07 to 0-01. Five minutes into Termon struck a killer blow with the game’s first goal. Gareth Gallagher who had been introduced at halftime raced forward and split the Naomh Columba defense, and then unselfishly set up Mark Gallagher who hammered the ball to net, 1-07 to 0-01 and a mountain to climb for Naomh Columba.

The mountain got higher as Termon quickly added three points, Jamie Gallagher, Eoghan Quinn and Paul Mallon’s sixth, all from play. Liam Boyle with two and Aaron Byrne , finally got Glen on the scoreboard again but it was much to little to late. Eoin Doherty and Paul Mallon added Termon points as it finished 1-12 to 0-04.

Termon scorers: Paul Mallon 0-07, Mark Gallagher 1-01, Eoghan Quinn, Jamie Gallagher, Steve McDaid, Eoin Doherty all 0-01.

Naomh Columba scorers: Liam Boyle 0-02, Aaron Byrne 0-02
