Gardaí have again urged Donegal drivers not to get behind the wheel while under the influence after it emerged there were 14 arrests over the past week for drink and drug driving.
Eight of these arrests were for drink driving and a further six for drug driving offences across the county.
“We continue to appeal to drivers never to get behind the wheel of any vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs,” Garda Claire Rafferty said.
As we enter the Christmas party season, she urged everybody to think twice before making any poor decisions when it comes to road safety. If you are going out socialising, please leave your car at home. Get a taxi or organise a lift. Never get a lift with someone if you think they may have alcohol or drugs in their system.
“If you suspect that somebody is driving while under the influence, please contact Gardaí immediately. That phone call could save a life,” concluded Garda Rafferty.
