Manorcunningham water works in the pipeline for early 2024

Water mains repair works at Pluck in Manorcunningham are due to begin in January 2024, it has been confirmed.

The project, which was due to start this month, has been pushed back until the New Year due to crews being delayed on other projects.

Uisce Eireann is now working closely with its contractor to expedite a start date at the end of January 2024 as soon as the crew complete another project at Horn Head.

Cllr Donal ‘Mandy’ Kelly received the update today on behalf of residents in Pluck, Raymoghy and the Rossbracken areas.

2.6km of mains infrastructure will be replaced to address the high number of mains bursts impacting the area in recent years.

Cllr Kelly said: “Although I’m disappointed with this update it is still positive that the works are truly on the pipeline and will be completed after the completion of the works in Horn Head.

“I’m aware that residents in the Manorcunningham area suffered without water on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day before, I will be keeping an eye to make sure this doesn’t happen again and I’ll be keeping pressure on Uisce Eireann to ensure the project is delivered.”
