A ‘sod turning’ event will take place in Letterkenny on Friday morning at the site of the new €56 million community nursing unit.
Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly, will perform the honours at the site on the Kilmacrennan Road, opposite the Letterkenny University Hospital Emergency Department. He is in town to meet medical practitioners to discuss the current crisis there.
HSE chiefs expect that the new facility will be completed and ready for use in 2026.
The state of the art building will provide a mix of long and short-stay beds for rehabilitation and dementia care uses.
