A well-known Donegal breeder hit the jackpot, and smashed a record, when his Belgian Blue sold for a whopping €21,500 last night.
Ardara farmer, John Kennedy, reached the new heights at Carrick-on-Shannon Winter Fair in County Leitrim. The previous record for a similar animal was €18,000, set in 2021 by Sean Ramsbottom.
According to the Irish Farmers Journal, John’s classy black and white heifer had impressed in the ring the previous day when judge, Gareth Corrie, crowned his entry the junior Belgian Blue champion.
