Donegal teenager Muireann Bradley has described performing on Jools Holland’s Hootenanny as a “really amazing experience”.

The 17-year-old from Ballybofey delivered a pitch-perfect rendition of Candyman by Rev Gary Davis to millions of viewers on the annual New Year’s Eve programme on BBC2. And she received a standing ovation from those lucky enough to be in the audience.

In what was her first ever performance on television, the blues singer and guitarist later took to the stage with music legend Rod Stewart and other stars for the show’s finale.

Stewart offered the teenager his microphone during the performance of Enjoy Yourself (It’s Later Than You Think).

Jools Holland is blown away by Muireann’s performance.

Muireann said this morning it was amazing to meet legends of the music industry at the show.

Speaking on RTÉ’s Morning Ireland, she said: “It was a really amazing experience, everyone there was just so nice and it was really amazing how well put together the whole team was.

“The whole show was amazing and it was amazing to meet all those legends.”

She added that her performance on the programme was arranged between her record company and Jools’ production team.

Muireann, who recently released her debut album ‘I Kept These Old Blues’, described her musical style as “folk blues” and said she grew up listening to the genre thanks to her dad.
