Gardaí in Donegal are urging the public to watch out for a scam text related to road safety fines.
The text purports to be from gardaí, telling the receiver that they have a fine to pay.
The text (example below) contains a link directing the person to pay the fine, with a reference number.
However, gardaí do not send texts or WhatsApp messages of this nature.
A spokesperson said: “Do not engage or click on the link and never enter personal banking details if you’re suspicious of a text message or an email.”
