Donegal Education and Training Board (ETB) has announced the appointment of Mr David McHale as the new Deputy Principal of Mulroy College.

Mr McHale replaces Mr Séan McFadden who has taken up the post of Principal of Finn Valley College in Stranorlar.

David joins the existing management team of Principal Fiona Temple and Deputy Principal Amanda Quinn. They now lead a staff team of over eighty at the Milford school which has a student population of over six hundred students.

Originally from Letterkenny, David attended Scoil Colmcille and St Eunan’s College, Letterkenny before completing a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities in St. Patrick’s College of Education (DCU), followed by a Professional Diploma in Education in NUI Galway. He also holds a Masters in Learning and Teaching from ATU Donegal.

David taught English, Geography and Coding in Errigal College in Letterkenny for nine years as well as holding an Assistant Principal post with responsibility for Digital Learning, Enrolment and Social Media. He was then appointed Deputy Principal in Inver College in Carrickmacross in 2023 before returning to Donegal this year.

Speaking about his new appointment, David said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as a Deputy Principal of Mulroy College and am looking forward to working closely with the dedicated staff and enthusiastic students, alongside the entire school community. I know how integral Mulroy College is to the local community and hope to continue these strong links and build upon the strong relationships that exist between the school and its hinterlands. I am looking forward to furthering the educational pathways and opportunities of Mulroy College students whilst also building upon the great work of the previous Deputy Principal, Mr Séan McFadden.”
