Donegal jockey Martin Harley has scored the biggest win of his career so far down under.
He took the 6/1 shot Abounding to victory in the $3 million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas race on Australia’s Gold Coast early this morning Irish time.
It was an emotional victory for the Trentagh jockey, 12 months on from an accident that saw the rider suffer a horrific neck injury in preparation for the same race last year.
The race wasn’t without its drama, with a delay of 80 minutes before the start due to another horse getting stuck in the gates at the start.
But Harley persevered and grabbed himself a well-earned reward for getting back on the saddle and grabbing the huge victory, a year after his serious accident.
