The Rosses Community School will host a public health and wellbeing forum next week.

The event will take place in the school gym on Thursday, January 25th, from 6pm to 9pm.

The aim of the forum is to showcase a network of organisations and individuals in the area who are interested in promoting a healthy community through supporting, protecting and improving the health and wellbeing of all people.

Some of the participating bodies include local sports organisations such as GAA, soccer and fitness clubs. There will also be individuals in attendance who have expertise in both mental and physical health as well as nutrition and holistic therapies.

A number of guest speakers have been confirmed, including a representative of the Alcohol Forum who will discuss the effects of alcohol and the family unit. Helen Mc Cready will be talking about exercise as a lifestyle medicine and there will be demonstrations of yoga and jiu jitsu. Ronan Brennan from RB Sports Clinic will be available to talk about ‘Use it or lose it: the importance of strength and movement’.

There will also be samples of healthy soup and smoothies made by the Home EC department for you to try. There will be a free raffle also with tickets at the door which will include lots of goodies. Please come along and explore all that is on offer in your area.
