Only seven per cent of homes built in Donegal since 2009 have an ‘A’ BER energy rating, according to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

During that period, 34,500 BER audits were completed in the county up until the end of last year.

Of these, only seven per cent had the highest ‘A’ rating, two were rated ‘B1’ while eight per cent had the lowest, or ‘G’, rating.

Kildare (26%), Dublin County (23%), and Meath (23%) had the highest proportion of A ratings while Leitrim (3%) had the lowest.
