Gardaí are currently preserving the scene of last night’s fire which destroyed a derelict house in Ballybofey.

Emergency services responded to reports of a fire at the former home of the late May and Francis Mulrine at Trusk Road shortly after 9:30pm.

The fire was eventually brought under control by Donegal Fire Services, however, extensive damage was caused to the property. The bungalow had been lying vacant for a number of years.

“The scene is currently preserved for forensic and technical examinations. Enquiries are ongoing,” a garda spokesperson said.
