Unique Ugandan children’s choir to spread a bit of sunshine in Donegal

A very unique concert to be given by a very unique choir is to stop off in Donegal for a very unique performance.

Spreading Sunshine: The New Life Children’s Choir’s Journey Across the UK and Ireland will stop off in the Abbey Hotel in Donegal Town on Saturday, March 9th.

The New Life Children’s Choir, consisting of 20 primary school children from Uganda, is embarking on a tour across the UK and Ireland.

Supported by Abaana, a local charity aiding impoverished children in Uganda, the choir aims to raise awareness and seek sponsorships for more children in need.

Through concerts and sharing their experiences, these children hope to shed light on the plight of those living in poverty and to help rescue more children from the streets.

This life-changing tour, from February to June 2024, provides an incredible opportunity for these children, many of whom have never left their local villages before.

Accompanied by 10 chaperones, they’ll journey across Ireland covering thousands of miles and sharing a glimpse of Ugandan culture and joy wherever they go.

The choir’s story reflects the transformative impact of Abaana’s work. One of the choir members was once homeless in Kampala but was rescued by Abaana, is now living in their children’s home and back in full-time education.

The choir will be appearing live in concert at the Abbey Hotel, Donegal Town on Saturday 9th March 2024 at 7.00pm.

There is no need for a ticket – entry is free and there will be an opportunity to make a donation to Abaana. Come along to make the children feel welcome and to enjoy their music. Better still, bring a friend.
