Tributes have been paid following the passing of the renowned architect, Caroline Dickson.
Miss Dickson (F.R.I.A.I., R.I.B.A.), late of Fahan and Derry City, passed away on Friday at Buncrana Community Hospital after a short illness.
As well as having a well-established private practice, she was also the former Diocesan Architect for the Church of Ireland Diocese of Derry and Raphoe.
The Diocese paid a fitting tribute to her today.
“Miss Dickson retired from her diocesan role last year after 40 years’ service. Throughout those four decades, she worked diligently on the Diocese’s behalf, displaying formidable expertise when it came to working on buildings of great historical significance,” a Diocesan spokesperson said.
Bishop Andrew Forster made a presentation to the late Miss Caroline Dickson last year to mark her retirement after 40 years’ service as Diocesan Architect. The Bishop was accompanied by Ven. Robert Miller, Archdeacon of Derry.
Last year, at the Diocesan Synod, a special presentation (above) was made to Miss Dickson by Bishop Andrew Forster to acknowledge the outstanding service she had given Derry and Raphoe.
She was predeceased by her parents Christine and Peter Dickson and is sadly missed by her cousins, her fellow parishioners, her many friends and colleagues, and by the wider community in Fahan.
Miss Dickson’s funeral will take place in her beloved local church, St Mura’s (Fahan) on Thursday afternoon at 2.30pm.
