Wild Ireland is taking centre stage in a Canadian documentary to be released later this year.

Blimp, the Canadian production company, visited Burnfoot last week to film a captivating documentary about the animals at the Wild Ireland animal sanctuary.

The documentary will showcase the varied residents of Wild Ireland and the incredible work they do in rescuing and caring for animals once native to Ireland, including wolves, bears, lynx, and wild boar.

Killian McLaughlin, a Buncrana solicitor and zoologist who founded Wild Ireland, also took the opportunity to showcase the beauty of Buncrana and its surrounding areas during the filming.

The Wild Ireland team expressed their gratitude to several local businesses and organisations for their contributions to the production, including Tank and Skinny’s, O’Flaherty’s Bar, The Wild Inishowen Club, Birdwatch Ireland, and Whitehouse Vets.

Opened in 2019, Wild Ireland provides sanctuary to animals rescued through collaboration with international charities. The park serves not just as a sanctuary but also as an educational platform, fostering awareness about animal welfare.
