Guinness owner Diageo is hiking the price of a pint again, for the third time in the past 18 months.
A 6c increase will come into effect from April 15th for Guinness, as well as the company’s other draught products: Hop House 13, Harp, Rockshore, Smithwicks and Carlsberg.
A pint of Guinness 0.0 is set to rise by 9c.
The cost of a pint rose by 16c in total last year, over the course of two increases.
The announcement by Diageo says the price increase is to offset rising input costs across all its operations in Ireland.
Publicans, who are already facing a struggling trade, have been told by Diageo that they can set the retail pricing “at your discretion, and you remain free at all times to set the price of our products.”
