Harps hoping to get back to winning ways against Athlone tonight

Finn Harps are hoping to return to winning ways as they travel to Athlone tonight.

Darren Murphy’s side could only manage a draw against the students of UCD at Finn Park last Friday in a game they perhaps should have won.

But manager Darren Murphy will be hoping to put that behind him as they travel to Lissywoolen this evening for a 7.45pm kick-off.

Harps ran out 2-0 winners in the last meeting between the sides thanks to goals from Stephen Doherty and Success Edogun.

Darren Murphy’s men enter the game sitting second in the table, looking to keep pressure on Cork City and maintain their 100% away record this season.

Murphy said “We’ve had a fantastic start to the season but going into the second round of games we won’t be a surprise to anyone, they’ll have played us before and be well aware of our strengths and weaknesses.

“We had a fantastic crowd at Finn Park last Friday when you consider the early kick off, and our fans have been superb to start the season.

“I know there is a bus load of them making the journey to Athlone along with car loads from Donegal and around the country so hopefully we can get a good result and make the trip home a bit easier!”

Injuries: Kevin Jordan, Max Hutchison

Doubtful: Stephen Doherty, Tim Hiemer

Suspended: None
