Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit arrested a driver whose vehicle was detected travelling at 156 kph (97mph) in a 100kph (62mph) zone in the early hours of this morning.

A second driver was also arrested after they tested positive for cocaine and cannabis.

“Please drive safely and make responsible decisions when it comes to road safety,” a garda spokesperson said.

“Making the decision to drive while under the influence of alcohol/drugs can have devastating consequences. Excess speed can kill so please slow down.”
