First half goals leave Harps floundering at Cobh

Two first half goals for Cobh Ramblers left Finn Harps chasing the game at St Colman’s Park.

Darren Murphy was hoping his side could bounce back from last week’s narrow defeat at the hands of Athlone and their previous week’s 0-0 stalemate with UCD.

But a goal from Matthew McKevitt as early as the 11th minute and another from David Bosnjak in the 37th minute left the visitors with a huge uphill task in the second half.

Cobh certainly didn’t like a team who hadn’t registered a win in their last six outings.

The visitors looked short on ideas after their massive trip south this morning.

And any plans for a second half comeback never emerged as they had to live on scraps in the second period.

They might have pulled a goal back when Success Edogun combined with Stephen O’Donnell but the shot was wide.

With just one point from a possible nine in their last three outings, Darren Murphy will be hoping to get back to winning ways.

But that will be easier said than done when Cork come to Ballybofey next weekend.
