Ramelton delivery man Jason McCahill has sealed his future as Ireland’s next top country star after winning TG4’s Glór Tíre final!
The 26-year-old was stunned by his win in the popular competition tonight, which also saw Dunfanaghy talent Chelsea Evans flying the flag for Donegal in the final.
“I don’t think it has sunk in completely just yet. A massive thank you to everybody at home that voted. I’m in your debt,” Jason said on his win.
“I’m so happy, no matter what happens from here. I’m chuffed.”
McCahill took the grand final in his stride, having won his place in a public vote last week.
Jason performed ‘The Ferryman’, a song made famous by the Dublin City Ramblers and dedicated it to his proud mother.
No stranger to the stage, Jason eats, sleeps, and breathes Country music. He grew up listening to Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, and Don Williams. His father was involved in charity work and organised fundraisers through Country music events and dances, a passion that Jason also took on and has helped raise over €120,000 in his local area.
The celebrations are just getting started!
