Buncrana Hearts seal Ulster Junior Cup after dramatic penalty shootout

Buncrana Hearts are once again Ulster Junior Cup champions after defeating Letterkenny Rovers on penalties.

The Inishowen side completed a three-peat of Ulster Junior Cup titles in the most dramatic of ways.

They had to come from behind in this contest however, with Letterkenny Rovers taking the lead with a penalty of their own early in the first half – Lee McMonagle giving Letterkenny the lead.

Jamie McDaid found an equaliser for Buncrana just before half time as Jamie McDaid levelled things up.

Buncrana took the lead with 15 minutes to go, with a penalty box melee following a Kieran McDaid corner resulting in a goal.

That lead wouldn’t last though, as Letterkenny’s Lee McMonagle rose to the occasion to grab his second of the game with moments to spare to send both sides to penalties.

After a dramatic shootout, Buncrana ran out 7-6 winners and deserving three-in-a-row winners of the cup.
