Double Top as Donegal brothers to dart for Ireland at Worlds!

Two gifted young Donegal brothers have been selected for the Irish Youth Darts Team to compete in this year’s WDF World Masters competition.

Shane (16) and Jack Porter (13), from Letterkenny, will be the only boys from the county who will represent their country at the prestigious event which will be held in October at a European location yet to be confirmed.

The brothers, sons of Gerald and Noreen Porter, are both members of the Donegal Youth Team. They qualified for the worlds following their impressive displays at the Irish Open and Irish Classic finals in Killarney last November. Indeed, the winner of the same tournament in 2022 was none other than professional darts player, Luke Littler.

Jack, a student at Errigal College, took to social media to make the announcement.

“Can’t believe this. This evening I got news that me and five other Irish youth players, including my brother Shane, will be going to the WDF World Masters in October,” he said.

“It will be somewhere in Europe, can’t wait and all that practice has finally paid off. So happy, and well done to the other Irish who qualified.”

In addition, Shane – current Captain of Donegal Youth Team – will be the only boy from the county to represent Ireland in the Europe Youth Cup in Latvia later this year.

The St Eunan’s College student, like his younger brother, first stepped up to the oche when he was just a toddler and has never looked back.

Needless to say, the boys have been heavily influenced by dad, Gerald, who also competed for Ireland at senior international level over the years.

“Another wee celebration for the boys and the house overall. Super proud parents once again,” Gerald told Donegal Daily.
