The Loreto Letterkenny first year soccer team is through to the All-Ireland semi final after being crowned Ulster champions yesterday with an outstanding win against Loreto Cavan.
A strong 3 -1 win saw them arriving back to school all smiles with the Ulster Cup and gold medals in hand.
The Cavan girls did in fact give Loreto Letterkenny players a win to work for and kept them on the defence from start to finish. Loreto Letterkenny’s back line had to remain solid and united throughout. The midfield played an amazing attacking game whilst also supporting their back line.
Tara Mc Daid scored the first goal and Ella Brennan netted the second in the first half. Loreto Cavan came into the second half fighting with a goal. Although Aoise Lenihan settled the Letterkenny nerves with a third goal to leave the scoreline 3-1 lead by the final whistle.
Each and every player gave their individual best to ensure gold. Coaches Ms Lynnette Rodgers and Ms Andrea McNulty are bursting with pride for their players on getting this far and getting a result they truly deserve.
Loreto Letterkenny would like to thank all the families and friends for travelling to support the team. They hope they can continue to do so this coming Tuesday, May 7, in the All Ireland Semi Final vs Salerno SS, Salthill, in Ray MacSharry Park, Sligo (4G). Kick-off is 1pm.
