Gardaí are appealing for information in relation to an attempted burglary at the Parochial House at St Joseph’s Church in Rathmullan last week.

The incident occurred sometime between 12 noon and 6pm on Sunday, just a week after the same property was broken into.

In the latest incident, the lock on the back door of the Parochial House was damaged between those times. Entry was not gained.

“If anybody observed any suspicious activity around the church grounds, or in the area of the Parochial House on that date, we ask them to please make contact with Gardaí in

Milford,” Garda Niall Maguire said.

Milford Garda Station can be contacted on 074-9153060. The Garda Confidential line may also be reached on 1800 666 111.

Garda Maguire added they have noticed a rise in recent weeks in the occurrences of thefts and burglaries at places of worship across the county. He urged members of the Clergy or parish committees who wish to update the security measures at their church, or seek advice in relation to security measures, to get in touch.

They may contact Sgt Fergus McGroary, the new Divisional Crime Prevention Officer, at Letterkenny Garda Station on 074-9167100.
