Fianna Fail’s Anthony Molloy will return to the Glenties Municipal District Council.

He was deemed elected on the eighth count, after John Reilly’s votes were distributed.

Molloy collected 196 of Reilly’s transfers. bringing him past the quota at 1,903 votes.

Three seats remain available in an incredibly tight contest that looks set to go down to the wire.

Fine Gael’s Joseph Molloy was eliminated on the eighth count, and the destination of his 896 votes will be crucial.

Brian Carr of Sinn Fein currently leads the way for those not currently over the line on 1,333 votes, with Denis McGee of 100% Redress trailling closely behind on 1,315.

That leaves three candidates within 50 votes of each other scrapping for the sixth and final seat currently, with Independent Jonathan Stewart on 1,158 votes, Sinn Fein’s Sheamais O Fearraigh close behind him on 1,146, and party running mate Kellie Rodgers on 1,116.
