Former Chief Medical Officer, Dr Tony Holohan, is the latest big name added to the list of speakers for next month’s MacGill Summer School in Glenties.
The three-day forum, in association with University of Notre Dame, describes itself as ‘Ireland’s international forum for thought leaders to discuss the critical issues facing the country, Europe, and our world.’
The title of this summer’s school is ‘On The Brink’.
Other noted speakers include former RTE News presenter and median entrepreneur, Mark Little, as well as former Tanaiste and current chair of Donegal GAA, Mary Coughlan. Irish politicians confirmed to date include Environment Minister, Eamon Ryan, and Sinn Fein spokesman on finance, Pearse Doherty.
More speakers are to be added soon, but you can see the updated list here.
Dubbed ‘Electric Picnic for older people’, the MacGill Summer School was founded over forty years ago by former RTE Managing Director, and Ballybofey native, Joe Mulholland and a local committee. It has been directed by him for most of its existence.
It has grown from very modest beginnings to being one of the most important fora in Ireland for the analysis of topics of national and international interest.
The event will take place in the Highlands Hotel, Glenties, from July 18-20.
