Letterkenny Community Centre has moved to distance itself form allegations relating to an investigation of a gymnastic instructor.
A number of media outlets locally yesterday carried articles relating to an investigation by Gardai and Gymnastics Ireland into “inappropriate behaviour” by a Co Donegal-based instructor.
Letterkenny Community Centre has now issued a public statement stating that the person under investigation is not any of their members.
A spokesperson for the community centre said “An article published yesterday, Thursday 20th June 2024, has triggered inappropriate speculation over the identity of the male gymnastics coach reportedly suspended by Gymnastics Ireland.
“Whilst we would not typically comment on ongoing Garda investigations, in order to protect the welfare of our coaches, we feel it is necessary to confirm that the allegations do not relate to anybody employed here at
Letterkenny Community Gymnastics Club, or in relation to any of the gymnastics programmes that we run here at Letterkenny Community Centre.”
