When it comes to being fleeced, Donegal sheep farmers aren’t left wanting.

It fact, Donegal boasts the most amount of sheep of any county in the county with a staggering 526,658 animals.

That’s 6,584 flocks and accounts for 14% of the total population of sheep in the country.

The statistics come from the Department of Agriculture which carried out their sheep and goat census in December 2023.
