Never mind the new Twisters film coming to cinemas this week, a funnel cloud had people stopping in their tracks in parts of Donegal today!

The unique cloud formation was visible everywhere from Buncrana to Ballindrait this afternoon.

A funnel cloud is a rotating column of condensed water droplets, usually attached to a larger cloud.  They’re often a sign that heavy rain, hail, thunder and lightning are on the way.

If a funnel cloud touches the ground, it becomes a tornado – although in Ireland these ‘tornados’ are often just small debris swirls.

Did you spot it?
