Toilets blocked and overflowing at popular south Donegal beach

Concern has been expressed, again, over the condition of the portable toilets at Rossnowlagh Beach.

Thousands of visitors flocked to the hotspot in recent days. However, they were met with the sight of blocked and overflowing public conveniences at the main (surf club) car park.

“The three public toilets at Rossnowlagh beach are blocked up, unusable and probably a public health hazard,” one beachgoer said.

Back in March, a petition started by locals called for better toilet facilities on the massively popular beach ahead of the summer season.

Over 1,400 people have signed the online petition, which is demanding that a permanent toilet block be built at Rossnowlagh beach, rather than the use of temporary portaloos.

“Let’s keep the pressure on the council and get Rossnowlagh, the locals and our visitors what it truly deserves – A Permanent Public Toilet Block in the Council Car Park,” the petition reads.

You can view the petition on Uplift here.

We asked Donegal County Council for a comment.
