The following are the Letterkenny Golf Club Notes:

Donegal Senior Scratch Matchplay:

Fresh from their exploits in reaching the Golf Ireland Ulster North semifinals and defeat in the
foursomes final Letterkenny Golf Club began their Donegal League journey with a first round match against Rosapenna Golf
Club.

This competition is over two legs. In the first leg played in Letterkenny they prevailed 4-1 with the only defeat occurring at the 19th .

In the second leg played last evening on the Old Tom Morris course in Downings, Letterkenny went on to the next round
by securing victory of a six to three with one match halved margin. They will meet Dunfanaghy Golf Club in the quarter
finals.

In the first leg the team was Jamie Foley, Richard Emslie, Simeon Stephens, Chris Duffy and David McCormick .In the
second leg Darragh McMenamin replaced Richard Emslie.

Letterkenny Pierce Purcell team won Ulster North Title in a hard fought match against a strong Greenisland team in a superb Rockmount golf club.

A match that was played in terrible conditions went right to the wire.

Greenisland put 2 points on the board early with wins on the 15th against Darragh Heaney and Rory Kenny and Club Captain Paul Carr and Adrian Flanagan.

Match 1 for Letterkenny Brian O Donnell and Tony McMonagle had taken a 4 hole lead only to be level on 15 , but wins on 16 and 17 saw them win 2/1 .

Match 4 was a similar story Team Captain John Russell and Michael Nielis were 3 up after 11 but were brought back level on 16, but with the large Greenisland support sensing victory 17 and 18 were won to send the match to a tie break.

In the play-off hole Darragh Heaney and Rory Kenny were nominated and duly delivered with Darragh putting his 2nd shot to 20 feet and when Rory sunk for birdie it sparked mad celebrations from the Letterkenny support.

Letterkenny now play the winners of Conaught in Gort on Saturday 31st August. Well done to all involved.
