There is huge shock in Letterkenny this afternoon, after a morning mass was interrupted by a large disturbance.

It’s understood that as the 11:30am mass was taking place at the Church of the Irish Martyrs, a disagreement between a group of people outside the Church took place.

The disturbance was such that the morning mass had to be paused for a time.

Multiple Garda cars attended the scene of the disturbance, including armed units, before the group was dispersed.

Many of the congregation inside the church were left shocked by the incident.

Gardaí have not yet issued a statement in relation to the matter.
