White collar boxers ‘punching for a purpose’ in tribute to the late Darren Quinn

Fists will be thrown in Burnfoot for all the right reasons this Friday 23rd August as the Halfway House hosts a major charity boxing event.

The ‘Brawl in the Halfway Hall’ is in memory of Darren Quinn, a local man tragically killed almost nineteen years ago by a drunk driver. This year would have seen Darren celebrating his 40th birthday. The anniversary year will now be marked with an unmissable night of boxing and a fundraising raffle in his honour.

Darren Quinn, who died at the age of 21 alongside his cousin Gavin Duffy and friends Charlene O’Connor (21), Rochelle Peoples (22), and David Steele (23)

The night promises to be a thrilling spectacle, with a roster of local boxers set to battle it out in the ring.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Friends of Inishowen Hospice and the James Connolly Memorial Hospital patient care fund.

This event is special because most boxers stepping into the ring are novices—no prior fight experience, just raw passion and determination for a great charitable cause. This is their first time under the bright lights and they’re ready to give it their all.

The Competitors:

Jason Coyle vs Eddie mc Eleney
Séamus carlin vs James Doherty
Jordan Quinn vs James Kearney
Lee Farren vs James Devine
Stephen Kearney vs Evan mc Dermott
Donabhan Quinn vs Philip Cuffe
Hugh Kearney vs Keanu Crumlish

Blindfold Boxing:

Aaron Bradley vs Micheal Farrell
Adam Downey vs Oisin Ardagh
Daniel Callaghan vs Robbie Boylan

Don’t miss your chance to witness these newcomers battle it out for the first time! Who will rise and who will fall? Find out this Friday at Brawl in the Halfway Hall!

Doors open at 7:30pm, with the first fight scheduled for 8pm. Tickets can be purchased from any family member or at LUX Barber Shop.

An online raffle will be drawn just after the Brawl at the Halfway Hall.
