Team Gold for Rosses runners at Donegal Half Marathon

Here are this week’s Club Notes from the Rosses AC:

The main focus from the past weekend was the Donegal Half Marathon Championships 2024 in Letterkenny.

In the men’s race Charlie Postie gave the chasing pack the slip in Glenswilly powering home for 3rd place and silver county medal in 1:16:02.

Next Rosses man back was Mark Ward with a 3 mins PB in 1:18:17 for 8th overall and M35 county silver.

A PB also for Declan Gallagher breaking 80 running 1:19:41.

Noel Diver ran 1:21:12, Paul McKelvey 1:22:51, Patrick Trimble M50 bronze in 1:23:40, James McGeehan ran 1:31:13, Noel O Donnell 1:31:39, Denis Bonner 1:32:49, Neil McBride 1:34:22, Norman McClean 1:35:34, Adrian Bonner 1:41:42, Noel Boyd 2:02:15, Keith Boyd 2:11:52 and big congrats to Justin McCreevy who only started running in February 2:16:14.

In the ladies section Maria Ni Mhaolagain took 3rd on her half marathon debut in 1:23:09 to take a county silver in the process.

Martina Mulhern defended her F35 county gold and 7th overall lady in a great time of 1:34:22.

Shauna McGinley ran 1:57:48, Veronica McLoone 2:06:33 and Brenda Duffy 2:18:08.

In the ladies Senior team event saw Maria, Martina and Brenda take a brilliant silver with F35 gold going to Martina, Shauna and Veronica.

The men’s F35 team of Charlie, Mark and Declan also took gold. And the M50 team of Patrick, Denis and Norman adding more gold medals.

Congrats and well done to all.

On Saturday last also there was a bronze for club athlete Eli Duffy representing Rosses Community Games in Javelin at the All Ireland Community Games Finals.

Eli Duffy continued his impressive season with a bronze medal in the javelin at the All Ireland Community Games Finals in Carlow. Eli was competing against a number of athletes who were a year older but was not put off and narrowly missed out on a silver but was delighted with his bronze medal.

Sept 6th Donegal 5k Road Championships Milford, Sept 15th Donegal Masters XC Finn Valley, Sept 22nd Donegal XC Relays and Juvenile Relays Finn Valley, Sept 29th Donegal Juvenile Uneven Ages Carndonagh, Oct 6th Donegal Novice and Donegal Even Age Championships Mullaghderg.
