The funeral of the first of two young cousins who died following a crash in Inishowen at the weekend is to be laid to rest in Derry tomorrow.

Cousins Kían Dawson-Kirk and Eoghán Dawson lost their lives after the car in which they were travelling struck a wall and ended up in a field at Cross in Quigley’s Point on Saturday night.

Kían, 16, died at the scene and Eoghán, 20, passed away yesterday afternoon from his injuries at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

Kían was a front seat passenger while Eoghán was driving the car.

Kían’s remains have been reposing in his home, 23 Carnhill, Derry,  since Monday evening. His funeral will leave from there tomorrow at 10.30 am for 11 o’clock Requiem Mass in St Brigid’s Church, Carnhill. He will be laid to rest afterwards in St Mary’s Cemetery, Ardmore.

Kían is survived by his grieving parents Emmett and Fiona as well as sister Abaígael. He is a cherished grandson of Margaret and the late Noel Kirk and Michael and Michelle Dawson and a much loved nephew and cousin.

Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu of flowers, if wished, to Youthlife, 23 Bishop Street, Derry, BT48 6PR.

An online fundraiser to support the cousins’ family, which has reached almost £20,000 this morning, can be found by clicking this link
