Man who died in Dungloe drowning accident had fled Ukraine war

The man who died in a tragic drowning accident near Dungloe has been named as Ukrainian native, Valerri Strunhar.

Mr Strunhar, a keen fisherman, died on Monday night after falling into the water while fishing at Marameelan.

Aged in his 60s, Mr Strunhar had been living in accommodation at Bunbeg House in Gweedore.

People from across the West Donegal community have extended their heartfelt condolences to Mr Strunhar’s family and friends following their sudden loss.

A service will take place in memory of Mr Strunhar tomorrow.

His remains will repose at Mc Glynns Funeral Home Dungloe (F94ND68) on Friday 6th September from 3pm with service at 5pm. Cremation will take place at Lakelands Crematorium Cavan at a later date.
