The Dunfanaghy Jazz and Blues Festival kicks off tomorrow, Thursday, at 5pm, and will continue to rock the town until Monday, 16th September.

With over 60 electrifying gigs featuring local, national, and international artists, this year’s festival promises to be unforgettable.

Plus there’s a new venue to check out! Ramsays Bar and Lounge on Dunfanaghy Square will be a fresh addition to the festival scene, hosting gigs each day.

The music is flowing outside the seaside village this year too, just down the road, Rose’s Bar in Creeslough will host the Mafia Cats on Saturday night.

Among the stellar lineup of acts on the stages are aptly named international trio, Atlantic Road Trip (pictured above), who will play the festival for the first time.

This jazz trio features Chad McCullough from the United States, Miro Herak from the Netherlands and Paul Towndrow from Scotland.

They will be just one of over 60 free gigs at this year’s event that gets underway on Thursday September 12th and continues until Monday September 16th.

Another act making a welcome return to Dunfananghy Jazz and Blues is Californian blues master, Shawn Jones.

Steeped in blues, root and Americana, he has shared bills with many renowned musicians, including B.B. King, Robert Cray, Buddy Guy, Bonnie Raitt, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Leon Russell, Derek Trucks, Robben Ford, Joe Bonamassa, and many others. Shawn was also managed by the late great country music legend Waylon Jennings for a time, toured in his band, and played on his 1996 release “Right For The Time”.

Also winging his way from the US is Nashville-based Porter McClister.

Porter has been a stalwart in the biggest venues on the strip in Nashville for thirty years, whilst also acting as band leader/lead guitarist with Gretchen Wilson and Tanya Tucker.

The event also features many of the best live jazz, blues, roots and rock acts in Ireland including Crow Black Chicken, Paul McIntyre, Mark Black, The Mafia Cats, Brigid O’Neill, Erdini, Portobello, The Unholy Gospel Band, Sam Davidson’s Taste, The Mindbenders, Stormchasers and much, much more.

The event has something for everyone and the organisers say they can’t wait to welcome everyone to this year’s event.

The 2024 Dunfanaghy Jazz and Blues festival features over 60 free gigs over five days.
