Gardaí from Buncrana Roads Policing Unit detected a car travelling at 159 kph (99 mph) in a speed 100kph zone on the N13 yesterday evening.

The driver subsequently failed the roadside breath test and was also found to have cocaine and amphetamines in their system.

An arrest was made and the motorist was charged to appear in court. They now face a possible disqualification and a conviction.

“Road Safety Week 2024 is underway, and our checkpoints are ongoing,” a garda spokesperson said.
